Sara Ali Khan, who is busy with the promotional duties of her newly released film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, opened up about the possibility of marrying a cricketer in a recent interview. The actress is rumoured to have been dating cricketer Shubman Gill, who emerged as a star player during IPL 2023. Sara was asked if she will follow in the steps of her grandmother Sharmila Tagore, who married legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in 1968, during an exclusive interview with India Today. The actress said: “I think that the kind of person that I am, to find somebody it doesn’t matter what they do — actor, cricketer, businessman, doctor… Maybe not doctors, they will run away. But you know the truth is that jokes apart, you will need to match me on the mental and intellectual level. And if you can do that, I think it’s great and wow but I think that (compatibility) would matter to me much, much more (than the profession).”
The interviewer then asked Sara Ali Khan if she has found someone special from the current Indian national cricket team. The actress replied: “I’ll be honest with you, I think and I can say this with almost assurity, I think the person I am going to be in my life I have not met so far. I really don’t think so.”
Rumours about Sara Ali Khan and Shubman Gill dating surfaced on the internet after the duo were spotted at a restaurant together last year. Then, on a chat show hosted by Sonam Bajwa, the cricketer fueled the rumours when he was asked to name the fittest female actor in Bollywood. He said “Sara” and added “maybe” while addressing the dating reports.
Earlier this year, a video of ace cricketer Virat Kohli reacting to fans teasing Shubman Gill by chanting, “Humari bhabhi kaisi ho? Sara bhabhi jaisi ho (Our sister-in-law should be like Sara)” in a stadium also went viral.
Sara Ali Khan was in a relationship with actor Kartik Aaryan previously. In terms of work, her film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke was released in theatres last Friday.
